As a part of the #16DaysActivism2021 Against Gender-Based Violence, Body & Data released research on “Mapping Laws Relevant to Online Violence in Nepal”, where we analyzed Nepal’s existing laws surrounding online violence to assess their sufficiency/effectiveness in addressing the issue. The following laws have been analyzed from the perspective of digital rights with a focus on gender and sexuality: Constitution 2015, Criminal Code 2017, Electronic Transaction Act 2008, Privacy Act 2018, Information Technology (IT) Bill* 2019, among others. You will also find that through the entire report, three human rights lenses have been used as the framework of the study - Right to Privacy, Freedom of Expression, and Freedom from Violence.
