Since the September 2026 Gen-Z Movement, Nepalese politics has taken a sharp turn away from its
traditional anchors and entered an era of sweeping digital reforms. Across every political party- left,
right, and centre- digitalisation and digitisation appear as the catch-all that will solve all of our
problems- from individual poverty to state-wide corruption. They also claim that digitally-led
economic transformations, employment generation, increased productivity, and a surge in technical
human resources will miraculously propel Nepal into economic prosperity. More commonly, parties
seem to agree that reducing human interface will reduce corruption and improve accountability,
establishing digital governance as the predominant policy proposal to solve corruption, resolve
bureaucratic hurdles, and centralise regulatory mechanisms.

elections and to understand contemporary aspirations towards Nepal’s digital future.
